Cafe Racer Style Seats

Yamaha Scorpio

Built by Purpose Built Moto, this elegant Cafe racer was treated with a deep blue leather with a small diamond stitch that flowed onto the tail cowl strap and light surround.  Pay particular attention to how the diamonds were flowed onto that streamline tail strap. Subtlety is always key and this job was no exception.

Blown CB550

This beast was built by Popbang Classics and handed over to us to work some magic. Sporting a basic diamond top stitch and tail border it was a very nice touch to an otherwise crazy build. A key feature to this seat was the side straps that actually fixed the seat down into position via the frame.

Honda CX500

One seriously sinister CX.. This badboy was the first among the fleet of Purpose Built Motos bikes to receive the ‘Signature series’ title and we were lucky enough to have a hand in it. Following with the race inspired theme of the build we landed upon Alcantara (a very hard wearing ultra suede used in the likes of Ferrari, Porche and so forth) for the entire seat. Next was the design.. With the silhouette of the bike taking shape at this stage, i was able to see the lines and flow coming together. I wanted to retain the heavy set front leading to a tight and petit rear. The results were almost a cross of a circuit board meets wind tunnel as the gunmetal topstitched lines flowed to the tail which also sported a matching coloured Purpose Built Moto embossed logo. Very pleased with how well it ties the bike together whilst still being a gorgeous piece in its own right.

XS650 Brat styled seat

This XS began its journey as a couch on wheels. Sporting a massive factory seat that was largely unnecessary. After Tom from Purpose Built Moto and I chopped off all the ugly bits off it was time for a new pan a brat seat. Keeping with the factory clean style, I used an inch and a half roll stitch paired with a small tail strap and some hearty heavy grained black leather. It’s easy to see why these tail tidy ups are becoming very popular as it changes the whole character of the bike.

Sol Invictus Nemesis 400

Another street shark built by Purpose Built Moto. A hard wearing Alcantara ultra-suede (used in the likes of Ferarri, Lamborgini and Porche interiors)  was used, paired up with leather accents and finally embroided with the Purpose Built Moto logo. As its a daily rider, this bike was loaded up with plenty of foam for a super comfortable ride that doesnt take away from the aesthetic .

Suzuki GS650

Another beautiful example of simplistic and subtle touches coming together for maximum results. Notice the depth in this gorgeous distressed leather and the double stitched border on the tail to make you really double take at this seat and bike.

Suzuki GS1000 - Brat style seat

This classic brat styled big boy GS was built by Purpose Built Moto. The owner was chasing a modern refresh on his GS1000. Sticking true with his vision, we went with the ageless look of basksewn pleats with a nice border on the tail. Nothing overly flash but it sits right at home among the very tidy refresh touches done by Tom at Purpose Built.

Honda CB350 - Brat style seat

Another gorgeous one from Tom at Purpose Built Moto. Easily one of my personal favourites out of the workshop. Elegant yet sporty, this bike got a very tidy small top sewn seat with small borders to neaten up those rear quarters. Again, a very nice distressed leather was used and really adds alot of character to the seat and bike as a whole.

Ducati GT1000 Cafe Racer

These gorgeous seats have fast become a favourite among the cafe racer community. Teaming up with Tom from Purpose Built Moto, we’ve developed an ‘off the shelf’ fibreglass base and hand shaped foam all made in house. The brown distressed leather really screams quality and adds elegance to the Ducati.
